Emerald is a precious variety of beryl, colored green by traces of chromium or vanadium. It is prized for its deep, intense and luminous green, symbol of renewal, regeneration and inner clarity.

Its formation requires very specific geological conditions, which explains its rarity and value. Emerald crystallizes in metamorphic or hydrothermal rocks, under high pressure.

The main current deposits are found in:

👑 Ancient Egypt

The Egyptians used emerald as a sacred stone, symbol of eternal youth and immortality. Cleopatra owned many and even had her own mines. The stone was associated with fertility, rebirth and the goddess Isis.

✨ The legend of the Holy Grail

A medieval tradition claims that the Holy Grail was carved from a gigantic emerald, torn from Lucifer’s forehead by the archangel Michael during his fall. This precious stone, fallen to Earth, was supposedly found and then offered to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.
It was then carved into the shape of a chalice, passed to Nicodemus, then to Joseph of Arimathea.

In Arthurian legends, this sacred cup becomes the object of a mystical quest: only knights pure of heart, like Galahad, Perceval or Lancelot, can hope to reach it. The Grail symbolizes inner healing, divine connection and spiritual fulfillment.

The Emerald Tablet is a legendary artifact, mentioned in alchemical traditions. It is said to have been engraved in an emerald and transmitted by Hermes Trismegistus, a mythical figure who embodies ancient wisdom.
According to some versions, it was buried with the mummy of the god Thoth, then rediscovered by Sarah, wife of Abraham, or Alexander the Great.
The Emerald Tablet has thus become a symbol of hidden and universal knowledge, foundation of many esoteric schools.

Purification and recharging:

Jewelry cleansing:

Emerald can be cleansed by running it under water for a few minutes. However, to preserve the setting of necklaces, we recommend instead smudging with a palo santo stick or with white sage. Burn the palo santo or sage and pass your jewelry over the smoke released. Don’t forget to ventilate the room well after smudging.

Recharging:

Emerald requires infrequent recharging. It can be recharged by placing it in the sun for a few hours.

It can also be placed in an amethyst geode, on a quartz cluster (druse) or on a selenite plate.
