Peridot is a green magnesium and iron silicate.

In ancient Egypt, peridot was nicknamed the “sun stone”. It was highly prized by Queen Cleopatra, who owned a vast collection of peridot jewelry.

Peridot is mentioned in the Bible. It was one of the stones adorning Aaron’s breastplate.

After the Crusades, peridot was brought back to Europe and used as ornamental decoration in many churches.

Peridot is both a balancing and energizing stone.

Cleansing:

Peridot can be cleansed by running it under water. It can also be cleansed by fumigation with a palo santo stick or with white sage. Burn the palo santo or sage and pass the stone/jewelry over the smoke. Don’t forget to ventilate the room well after fumigation.

Recharging:

Peridot can be recharged by placing it in a quartz geode, on a quartz cluster or an amethyst druse. It can also be placed on a Flower of Life plate.
