In ancient Greece, opal was said to have been born from the tears of the god Zeus. When he triumphed over the Titans, he supposedly shed tears of joy that transformed into stones as they fell to the ground. Since then, the Greeks have believed that opal possesses powers of clairvoyance.

In the Middle Ages, opal was nicknamed the “eye stone” and was considered beneficial for the eyes.

Opal is a stone of protection and happiness. It promotes calm and soothing. Its gentle energy invites us to let go and forget conflicts.

Opal promotes self-awareness. It helps explore emotions and identify desires. It also helps find sleep.

Opal releases blockages and promotes spontaneity.

The water contained in opal helps dissolve energetic blockages and restore the circulation of energies.

Opal tends to absorb surrounding energies and will therefore be ineffective in a negative environment or if worn by a person with a negative mindset.

Cleansing:

Opal can be purified by cleaning it with demineralized or spring water. To preserve the jewelry setting, we recommend fumigation with a palo santo stick or with white sage. Burn the palo santo or sage and pass your jewelry through the smoke. Remember to ventilate the room well after fumigation.

Recharging:

Opal can be recharged by placing it in a quartz geode, on a quartz cluster, or an amethyst druse. To prevent the geode or druse from scratching the opal, it is best to place it on a small square of soft cloth. It can also be placed on a Flower of Life plate.
