In the Middle Ages, opal was nicknamed the “eye stone” and was considered beneficial for the eyes.

Cleansing:

Ethiopian opal should not be purified with water, as this could alter its iridescence. We recommend fumigation with a palo santo stick or white sage. Burn the palo santo or sage and pass your jewelry through the smoke. Don’t forget to ventilate the room well after fumigating.

Recharging:

Opal can be recharged by placing it in a quartz geode, on a quartz cluster, or an amethyst druse. To prevent the geode or druse from scratching the opal, it’s best to place it on a small square of soft cloth. It can also be placed on a flower of life tray.
