Shungite dates back around 2 billion years. It’s mainly made of carbon and also contains fullerenes as well as many trace elements. In its natural state, shungite is the only material on Earth that contains fullerenes. Fullerenes are considered true purifiers. They’re among the most powerful antioxidants, as they help remove a large number of free radicals.

Shungite is mainly used to reduce the effects of electromagnetic pollution. Placed near the emission source, it acts as an electromagnetic shield.

Nicknamed the stone of life, shungite is said to strengthen the root chakra and consequently the vital field.

It’s also said to help with concentration difficulties. By reducing electromagnetic waves, shungite is said to help with sleep issues and irritability.

Using Shungite:

A cube can be placed in a room near the source of electromagnetic waves. A pyramid, a cylinder or a sphere can also be placed on a desk and in any living space.

Shungite can also be worn as jewelry, a bracelet, or a necklace.

For energetic rebalancing/cleansing, you can use large pebbles, holding one in each hand for twenty minutes.

History & origins of aventurine

Aventurine is a gemstone belonging to the quartzite family. It is easily recognizable by its shimmering inclusions, often fuchsite or hematite, which give it that unique glittering luster called “aventurescence”.

The name “aventurine” comes from a happy accident: “a ventura” means “by chance” in Italian. This term was used in the 18th century after the accidental creation of a glittering glass in Murano, Italy, resembling the natural stone. This coincidence inspired the name of the natural gem, discovered later and featuring a similar appearance.

Aventurine deposits are mainly found in Brazil, India, China, and Russia. Indian green aventurine, rich in fuchsite, is particularly renowned for its soft and luminous color.

Throughout history, aventurine is said to have been used in several civilizations:

• In ancient China, it was worn as an amulet to attract prosperity.
• Among the Celts, it was reportedly used as a lucky talisman.
• In South America, some tribes attributed to the stone the ability to strengthen the bond between nature and man.
• In India, aventurine is sometimes called the “forest stone” because it is found in heavily wooded areas. An ancient Indian legend tells of a sacred elephant that discovered a shimmering green stone in the jungle and carried it to a temple, which was interpreted as a divine sign. Since then, in some rural areas, aventurine is sometimes placed on altars dedicated to nature deities to attract their protection.

Another significant trace of aventurine use dates back to ancient Egypt. It is said that some Egyptian artisans inlaid aventurine into ritual objects or statues representing the goddess Isis, a symbol of healing and rebirth, due to the gentle vibration attributed to this stone.

Aventurine is commonly associated with serenity and luck. It is considered a soothing stone, conducive to inner calm and emotional relaxation.

According to traditional uses:

• It is said to promote self-confidence and decision-making.
• It is said to help regulate emotions by encouraging compassion and tolerance.
• It is sometimes used to assist with stress management, providing a gentle sense of grounding.
• Some also associate it with creativity, personal growth, and harmony in emotional relationships.

On a physical level, aventurine is sometimes used in a holistic approach to well-being to support certain imbalances such as allergies, redness, acne, or skin rashes, although these uses are not supported by any scientific evidence.

Purification and recharging:

Cleansing:

Aventurine can be purified by soaking it in water for a few minutes. To preserve the jewelry setting, we recommend purifying it by smudging with a palo santo stick or white sage. Burn the palo santo or sage and pass the aventurine/your jewelry through the smoke. Don’t forget to ventilate the room well after smudging.

Recharging:

Aventurine can be recharged by placing it for a few hours in a room bathed in sunlight. It is not recommended to expose it to direct and prolonged sunlight. Strong light and intense heat can alter the stone’s color. It can also be placed in a quartz geode or on a selenite plate.
